Umm, I did it better !?
Season 2 of 90210 premiered tonight, and word on the street is that it was not quite as good as it could have been. I know this because I had a concept for the season premier that I was told was better. I'm not deluded. It probably wasn't(lol)but i makes me wonder what does it really ( I mean really, really)take to make it as a professional writer nowadays. I know, breaking through as a script writer is really hard and I have nothing but respect for those who make it professionally, but it sucks that t.v writers some times come up with such crap. I'm a fan of numerous screenplay writer's blogs, and I know the studios and networks notes and all kind of things, make life hard for those who do it. Few writers truly have creative control over other people's series, but sometimes I just feel like writers slack a lot. I enjoy the show 90210 not really because of the stellar quality of the series but because it is the subject matter I am interested in writing. Teen and young adult sci-fi/fiction (I would love to work on the staff of a CW show). And I feel like when a pure crap episode comes out, it really hurts the legitimacy of the industry. I mean, there is only so much a writer can do, but is there really any excuse for what happened on Buffy season 7? For those of you not in the know, lets just say Buffy The vampire slayer (the t.v series) could be great at times but season seven was a train wreck. Why can't Heroes get back on track? Why did Phoebe's baby daddy storyline on Charmed last so long instead of giving her back her damn powers? Where is your respect for your audience writers? If you don't care then how did you get your jobs? I don't know and it just makes me sad is all. there is a part of me that really wants to be a screenplay writer, but I feel like getting through the doors aren't about really caring for the craft and entertaining people, just about who you know and having enough money that you can support your coke habit, I mean writing career. Oh well love you anyway.
PS. My outline was really good
